The driver alertness monitoring system monitors the driver for signs of fatigue and distraction. The system uses cockpit and interior-facing cameras or other sensors to determine if the driver’s attention is still focused on the road.
Most systems track the driver’s eye blinking rate, face and gaze directions, and hand position on the steering wheel. If the driver no longer meets these and other system requirements, they will receive audio and visual alerts and even vibrations from the steering wheel.
