About This Whitepaper
The movement toward connected and self-driving vehicles has created new and innovative partnership opportunities between manufacturers, auto insurance providers, and financial institutions. As these partnerships continue to develop, what important considerations need to be made for the car-buying public? How much would consumers be willing to pay for connected services? Does ridesharing play a role? What about fully autonomous cars? Is that something consumers want or even trust?
The focus of this 2019 whitepaper is a consumer research study conducted by J.D. Power and Acxiom. The survey sought responses from over 2,500 consumers across all generations to understand what they want from connected vehicles and in-vehicle services. This online quantitative study included respondents ages 16 and older residing in the United States. The majority (64 percent) were female, with an average age of 48. Survey participants were evaluated on four key topics: connected vehicle services, data sharing, self-driving vehicles, and ridesharing.
