Innoviz Technologies and Vueron Technology will partner to build an autonomous driving platform for LiDAR-only self-driving vehicles. The collaboration will leverage Innoviz’s high-resolution LiDARs and Vueron’s perception software for a new solution for the South Korean market.
Historic Drive
Vueron received one of the few self-driving permits issued by the South Korean government in January 2021. Following receipt of the permit, Vueron executed a 414-kilometer, fully automated, LiDAR-only drive from the capital city of Seoul to the southern port city of Busan, at a maximum speed of 100 km/hr. The mandated safety driver on board did not touch the steering wheel at any point during the five-hour drive.

Future Plans & Goals
While more details are likely forthcoming about this collaboration, Innoviz and Vueron say they are both committed to developing autonomous technologies together. This most recent news for Innoviz follows two important events for the company already in 2021: receiving its NASDAQ listing and the announcement of new performance updates for one of its signature product offerings.
