XenomatiX has announced its latest version of XenoTrack, a solid-state road profile LiDAR that can identify road conditions and geometry and small and nearly invisible objects. According to the company, XenoTrack provides improved accuracy with millimeter precision and resolution, along with a sleek, new design.
How XenoTrack Works
The new XenoTrack has enhanced functionality with its integrated HD camera and RTK-GNSS. Road characteristics such as the international roughness index and rutting index are quantified while driving and provide road management and construction companies with a quick assessment of pavement quality. XenoTrack itself consists of two variants: XenoTrack RearView and XenoTrack FrontView. Both are pre-installed with the company’s 3D point cloud software. Similarly, XenoTrack can be mounted on any vehicle.
“Many road owners have limited or subjective info on the quality of their roads,” said Filip Geuens, CEO of XenomatiX, in a recent LinkedIn post. “XenomatiX lifts road assessment from the analog to the digital era.”
The technology effectively digitizes the road surface, collecting 3D point clouds to reveal road geometry and reflectivity data for road and lane markings. Adding a high-resolution camera and RTK-GNSS, the survey systems provide additional 2D images for a total of six dimensions, all synchronized and annotated with precise GPS data. As explained by XenomatiX, municipalities can leverage this data to determine the status of their road network and when and where repairs are needed.
“The XenoTrack lidar sensors measure the pavement very precisely on the road, over more than one lane wide, and for long distances in one run,” said Kris De Meester, VP of Sales and Business Development at XenomatiX. “The full road is digitized, and any index or quality parameter can be calculated according to local or international standards.”
XenomatiX In The News
In November 2021, the International Road Federation (IRF) awarded XenomatiX the Global Road Achievement Awards for its 6D road scanning and surveying solutions. XenomatiX was also named a CES 2022 Innovation Awards Honoree and won the Trends Gazelle Award.
